Promptica ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Promptica handles your data when you use our browser extension.

1. Privacy First Philosophy

Promptica was built with a "privacy-by-design" approach. We believe that your AI interactions are personal and should remain private. We do not operate any servers, and we do not collect, store, or transmit your data to any external location.

2. Information We Collect and Store

Promptica only stores data that is necessary for the extension to function as intended. All data listed below is stored locally on your device and is never sent to us or any third party.

  • Bookmarks: When you bookmark a chat, we store the prompt text, title, site identifier (e.g., ChatGPT), conversation ID, and timestamp.
  • Prompt Templates: Any templates you create, including their titles, content, descriptions, and categories.
  • Usage Statistics: We store basic usage data such as last access time of templates to provide "Recently Used" features.
  • Extension Settings: Your UI preferences, enabled platforms, and theme settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

The data collected is used exclusively to:

  • Organize and display your bookmarked AI prompts.
  • Manage and inject your custom prompt templates.
  • Provide a personalized experience based on your settings.
  • Show statistics about your usage within the extension's dashboard.

4. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored using the browser.storage.local API provided by your web browser.

  • Local Only: Your data resides on your physical device. It is not synced to your browser account (e.g., Google Account) unless you explicitly use browser-level sync features outside of Promptica's control.
  • Security: Since data is stored locally, its security depends on the security of your device and browser. Promptica does not encrypt the local storage database beyond standard browser protections.

5. Third-Party Services

Promptica interacts with third-party AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok) by injecting user interface elements into their websites.

  • Data Extraction: We only read content from these sites when you explicitly click the "Bookmark" button or interact with our UI components.
  • No Data Sharing: We do not share your bookmarks or templates with these AI platforms, nor do we send any of your Promptica data to them.
  • Their Policies: Your use of ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok is subject to their respective privacy policies. Promptica has no control over how these platforms handle your data.

6. Permissions

Promptica requires the following permissions to function:

  • storage: To save your bookmarks, templates, and settings on your device.
  • clipboardWrite: To allow you to copy templates or prompts to your clipboard.
  • Host Permissions (chatgpt.com, claude.ai, etc.): To inject the Promptica panel and buttons into the AI chat interfaces.

7. User Control and Data Portability

You have full control over your data:

  • Export: You can export all your bookmarks and templates as JSON or CSV files at any time via the "Data & Storage" settings.
  • Delete: You can delete individual items or clear all data (factory reset) from the extension settings.
  • Uninstall: If you uninstall the extension, all locally stored data is automatically removed by the browser.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Since we do not collect your contact information, we cannot notify you of changes; we encourage you to review this document periodically.
